Just like Papa and Farmer Tim: revisited

Back in May I posted about my nephew, Joshua, planting some sweet corn. With the help of the garden hose the plants produced a few, gnarly completely normal ears. Nana and Papa would say it tasted pretty good and I say, "good job, Josh!"

Wait for it...wait for it...

...still waiting. It totally looked like rain yesterday. And then it sprinkled. And then it was over. Tricked.

It's too bad cowboys didn't eat much pizza back in the Old West, because I think a good painting would be a cowboy giving his last slice to his horse.

To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around.  That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?" you can say, "Sorry, got these sacks."

It's beginning to a lot like...harvest.

Folks, in a matter of days life around here is about to get crazy. Looks like Farmer Tim may be harvesting corn AND drilling wheat almost simultaneously. That's not normal. But thanks to our really wet so hot no amount of deodorant could help me dry summer, some of our fields are begging to be picked. Despite my failed attempt at the Man of the House rain dance (everybody dance now!), we consider it a blessing to have anything to harvest at all! So here's to a safe and bumper crop.

Will blog for cheesecake.

I. Love. Cheesecake. I'm not even very discriminating in my preferences. Plain. Chocolate. My mom makes a mean Chocolate chip. Raspberry swirl. Peanut butter and banana. Sauce. No sauce. You get the idea- I like cheesecake. I tell you this because I MADE, FROM SCRATCH, my first ever (you guessed it) cheesecake...and it tasted GOOD. I only had to make the crust twice because who new "crumble the vanilla wafers" translated to "finely puree them in your blender so you don't have massive chunks and only a partially covered spring form pan." 

Caveat: spring form pans are annoying and only mildly work; so put a cookie sheet underneath when baking, so as not to fill the house with smoke from pan drippings. Hypothetically.

And then...

...Tim scared poor Lawson Zimmerman (Andi and Lance- we hope you'll let us come back for a visit).  But isn't he soooooo cute?

And then...we got our picture taken.

And then...our typical Friday night (Goonie lovers unite!).

This one time we went to a Rockies game. And they stunk. But we had fun. The end.
